Freya Hoffmeister is one of only two to have circumnavigated Australia in a kayak. She is the only woman and unassisted paddler to have achieved this feat. Following this 2009 adventure she is currently circumnavigating South America –the first ever to attempt this. Our designer Corran Addison lived 500 miles from the coast for nearly ten years, in Montreal Canada where some of the world’s biggest and most impressive river waves are found. As such, he was able to develop not only great river running SUP designs, but amazing surfing designs for these unique static waves. His latest creation, the Static, combines the ease necessary to negotiate bizarre river currents and eddy lines, and the surfing performance required to surf these unique and exciting waves. The Static has the flotation necessary for fresh water paddling, the speed and drive to surf these sometimes mushy, broken waves, and the skaty feel to get as much out of these waves as you want. Can you handle 20 minute surf?

The Streetfighter is a board that will keep you coming back again and again to whitewater rivers. Traditional SUP shapes simply don’t work in rivers, no matter how strong you make them, or inflatable, or rubberized. Surf shapes are designed for operating on a plane, and when you’re on a river, you’re never planing. The Streetfighter thus looks much more like a “creeking kayak” than a SUP. High volume sides so its forgiving, progressive rocker throughout so its quick to turn and can “bob” through wave trains, and a high volume peaked nose keeps the ride dry. Built using Kevlar (the same stuff used to make bullet proof vests), the Streetfighter can take a lot of abuse – which the river is bound to hand out. Simply put, if you’re serious about getting into river running SUP, there is truly no other alternative for ease and fun.
