C1: basics, sculling draw stroke

This is one of the basic moves which is very helpful when river running. The numbers in the corner of the animation relate to each passage of text.

1. Turn your body and hips to face the side of the boat and place the blade at the back of the boat at an angle and bring it along the side of the boat. This will pull the boat along sideways.
2. Bring the blade in an arc, always keeping it at an angle to keep the boat moving.
3. Move the body round using your hips as well to put more energy into the move.
4-6. Keep the blade moving like in the animation and the boat will move sideways.
