Porto, Paiva river, Onda de Espiunca
Playspot: Portugal, Porto, Paiva River, Onda de Espiunca. |
What's it like
The spot depends on the waterlevel. If it's about the level of the beach in Espiunca, then it would be a magic breaking wave (the second one), by lower levels it forms a nice hole. There are big eddie on both sides, the place can be shallow at low levels.Good levels happen usually between November and April. By the way, "Onda" means wave in Portuguese.
After you are tired of this Onda de Espiunca, you can paddle another 15 km or so of class III where you'll find many other spots to play on: wave trains, holes...
How to get there
To find the spot just paddle some 500 m downstream from Espiunca , till you find a nice wave close to the river left. You can also go by car on a dirt road and park 2 minute walk away from the spot. To locate the road, please use this map.
