Playspot: Dore River, McBride, British columbia, Canada.

What's it like

This River is one of tonnes in McBride, but this one is just so spontaneous, it can change over night. It's a great River to run but not a great one to play on.

It's a fairly small river that runs down a side vally in McBride. On hot days the water level is pretty high, if you get a hot week it's just about right!

You won't run into any fishermen there because there isn't much fish in it. You just have to be careful on the road on the way up the side valley cause it's a logging road, but there's not usually much going on up there.

How to get there

McBride is right on Hwy 16 two hours west of Jasper, and two hours east of Prince George. Dore River itself is ten min. west of McBride. Turn left off Hwy. 16 onto Dore R. Road and stay left, go up past where it turns to gravel, and just keep going for 6 kms where there is a bridge, it's the best place to put in. If you put in there then you can pull out at the bridge of Hwy. 16.
