Linz, River Inn, Below the bridge

Kayak Spot - Below the bridge Spot, Austria, Linz, River Inn, Below the bridge

What's it like

A hole and surf wave, sticky enough to do all the hole moves but there is always a way out (sooner or later).

Below the bridge - Extreme Blast

The water is quite cold (about 16°C). The best time is from May till early August or maybe a bit longer. Just next to the spot is a nice hangout place with mexican food and good beer.

How to get there

Below the bridge Map

Coming from the east: 35 km west of Innsbruck. Go off the Autobahn (freeway) in Mötz and drive the 171 for about 3 km until reach Silz. Turn right at the church and go straight until you cross a bridge: found it.

Coming from the west: 15 km east of Imst, 25 km east of Landeck. Go off the Autobahn in Ötztal and stay on the 171 till you reach Silz after about 5 km.

Austrian Autobahn: You need a "Pickerl" (freeway toll) that you can buy for a week, 2 months or a year. If you don`t have it and get caught you'd better have some change on you...

Locals

Rafting is popular in the area. The rivers are wide enough for all sports and the guides are respecting the kayakers and the other way around. Fishermen are ok as long as you don`t come to close to them. What the locals don`t want to see are naked bums and your car parked in their fields. Show the locals the respect that you would show to your own neighbors.

Events

Kayak Spot - Below the bridge - Night Rodeo

Below the Bridge: big cash to win and party all night through. Highlight is the "King of the Wave" at midnight (probably the most hardcore King of the Wave in Europe, see photo below). A downriver race in the dark. Bring your race paddles and your elbow pads.
