Tyrol, Lienz, River Isel, Dolomite Wave

Playspot: Austria, Tyrol, Lienz, River Isel, Dolomite Wave.

What's it like

On river left this is a big breaking wave, which makes numerous moves possible: flat spins, blunts, 360s, enders, pirouettes and when the water level is ideal even cartwheels.

On river right you'll find a smooth wave: great surfing for everyone.

The water is rather cold.

Best time is from May to September and the best water level is 260 cms or more in Lienz (typically when it's hot).

How to get there

Coming from the North (Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck or Felbertauern) or from the West (Italy, Meran): drive into Lienz and turn left at the first traffic lights into the Deffreggerstraße.

Coming from the east (Villach, Slovenia, Graz, Plöckenpaß): turn right at the fourth traffic lights counting from the beginning of Lienz, into the Deffreggerstraße.

Once you are in the Deffreggerstraße, go straight until you come to a church. Then turn right in front of the church and left left again immediately after that same church. After 100 meters you'll drive over a bridge, after which you turn left into the parking lot of a school.

If you lost your way, ask for the hotel and restaurant "Glöckelturm".
