Host Kristin Thomas chats with SUP expeditioner, Jared Munch!
Jared Munch is a Midwest regional advocate of SUP. During the summer of 2015, he became the first and only person to ever circumnavigate Lake Superior on a SUP - paddling 1300 miles solo over 50 days while camping on the remote and rugged shorelines. In 2019, he endured another task of paddling from his hometown of Duluth, MN, to the southernmost tip of the Arctic Ocean region, covering 920 miles over a 39 day period while enduring open water, hundreds of whitewater rapids, and many miles of portaging across a continental dive and around waterfalls. Currently, Jared utilizes his recognition and knowledge to promote the sport and inspire others to find their true potential on the water. He also empowers youth through motivational speeches and by providing opportunities to try the sport for themselves.
