So as you know last week we gave the Jackson Kayak Cruise a harsh review. The steering of this kayak was just not up to par with their competition, and honestly, we found it pretty annoying to pedal. I couldn't help but feel that if they only had a different rudder our review might have been very different. That night I woke up at 1am and couldn't get the idea of a better rudder out of my head. I was thinking about bolting on some starboard, melting the rudder and trying to reshape it, etc. Fast forward to Saturday when we finally had time to mess with it. I handed to the idea to Matt who realized we had a broken Boondox Rudder lying around. He busted out his Dremel and the rest is Youtube history. We are super stoked on the outcome. I put a call into Tim Parks from Boondox who is going to be sending me out a prototype he made up to fit the Jackson. I'll be testing it and providing him feedback. Hopefully, we get a solution that is ready for the public soon!
Thanks for being a part of the journey with us! We'll keep you up to date on the Boondox version.
