Wave Sport is again the “Official Kayak of the Kayak Freestyle Championship” at Teva Mountain Games this year. Wave Sport and Team Wave Sport will be in Vail, Colo., for the 11th annual celebration of outdoor sports and mountain life, May 31-June 3, 2012. GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 30, 2012) – Wave Sport is again the “Official Kayak of the Kayak Freestyle Championship” at Teva Mountain Games this year. Wave Sport and Team Wave Sport will be in Vail, Colo., for the 11th annual celebration of outdoor sports and mountain life, May 31-June 3, 2012.

Even in its short existence, Teva Mountain Games (TMG) has quickly become one of the premier multi-sport events in the world. Vail’s location is ideal for kayaking, with Gore Creek, Homestake Creek, Eagle River and the Colorado River just minutes away, and with the Vail Whitewater Park located right in the middle of the excitement, freestyle kayaking is a pinnacle event for the Games.

In last year’s TMG Freestyle Championship, Team Wave Sport’s Haley Mills came in third in the women’s division, and she is back with a vengeance to take the top prize June 1-2. While the goal of any Wave Sport athlete is to place first, the competition can never replace the fun of being on the water.

“Ever year, we at Wave Sport look forward to the Teva Mountain Games. The event is such a great way to kick off summer, and the unique mix of competition, fun, and mountain culture defines our approach to whitewater and refreshes our enthusiasm for the season,” said Jessica Prescott, marketing communications manager for Confluence Watersports, parent company of Wave Sport. “Wave Sport is excited to be an official part of the Games again this year and to support whitewater boating in this energetic and exciting setting.”

Wave Sport will join Dagger kayaks and Bomber Gear in booths manned by athletes and ambassadors at “Gear Town” in Vail Village, directly next to the Vail Whitewater Park at International Bridge, home of the Freestyle Championship. The new 2012 Wave Sport line will be on display, and the booth crew will be hosting games for a chance to win prizes. Wave Sport boats will be available for purchase at the nearby Colorado Kayak Supply tent.

TMG has four organized kayaking events: Steep Creek Championship, Freestyle, 8-Ball Kayak Sprint and the Down River Sprint, which is a leg of the GNC Ultimate Mountain Challenge. Team Wave Sport athletes are slated to compete against the world’s best kayakers in the Steep Creek Championship on Homestake Creek and the Kayak Freestyle competition at Vail Whitewater Park. Wave Sport athletes competing this year include Team Wave Sport captain Bryan Kirk, Shane Groves, Mike Tavares, Haley Mills, Elaine Campbell, Kasper Van Kalmthout, Martina Wegman, and Michele Ramazza.

About Wave Sport:

Wave Sport was founded in 1986 with a dedication to all things whitewater, and that philosophy holds true today. For Wave Sport, paddling is a journey whether over the course of a day or a lifetime. Some journeys are destined for a local, glassy surfing wave, while the journey for others may culminate in a first descent of some remote and enormous drop. For those who believe paddling is not just an activity, but a way of life, Wave Sport welcomes you to the ride. Join the Wave Sport Community and learn more at www.wavesport.com.
