San Francisco, CA — April 27, 2010 — The first issue of the new California Kayaker Magazine is now at kayak shops and sports stores in Northern California, or downloaded as a PDF from http://www.calkayakermag.com/CaliforniaKayakerMag-Spring2010.pdf.
California Kayaker Magazine is focused on being the resource for kayak information for Northern California (expanding soon to all of California). We are dedicated to promoting fun and responsible kayaking, and advocated for increased paddling opportunities in the region.

The magazine is published quarterly on glossy stock and filled with stories and photos on all forms of kayaking (white water, touring, surf, kayak fishing, etc.) and for all level of kayakers. The magazine is advertiser supported, and will be free to the reader. Those not able to get a copy at a local store will be able to download a PDF of the magazine off of the web site.

Editor Peter Donohue came up with the idea for this magazine after an article of his was published in a regional magazine focusing on a different area, and many people in Northern California commented about how they had read it. He felt that if a magazine with a different regional focus had such readership, then a magazine focused on Northern California should be very well received.

On the business side, many tour companies and local retailers have commented about how they haven’t ever advertised because they never felt there was a publication that would target their customers, and they feel that a magazine like California Kayaker could be the magazine for them. Manufacturers could benefit from a magazine that directly targets kayakers in California, one of the 2 largest markets for kayaks and gear in the States.
