Where buy a car and a used boat in Philadelphia 16 years 2 months ago #24619

Hi
I'm from Germany and we (2 person) are going to travel in March to the US and we will arrive in Philadelphia. We are going to travel around the US for paddeling and climbing and want to live this time 4-8 month out of a car. I think a big van would be usefull.

Do anybody know where is the best place to buy in Philadelphia a van or has got one for sale? (favourable with something to sleep and so)

Or could anybody recommend a certain typ of van (it should be able to carry a play boat :-)

Where to buy a blay boat? Is it the same website as for Boston?

I still got no idea if it will work to buy and register a car in Pennsylvania and sell it in Oregon or if there are any rules which make it impossible? If you have got experiences with this it would great if you can tell me.

It would be great if somebody could help me. And when everythink is solved I hope to see you on the river.

Here's one of the less expensive options: philadelphia.craigslist.org/cta/ . You could buy a car from a dealer, but they are usually extremely overpriced. check out www.motors.ebay.com/?_trksid=m38 as well.

You will arrive in the mid-Atlantic region so will have access to many local paddlers and message boards
try the northeast paddler's message board if you are travelling from Philadelphia to Boston
www.npmb.com
It is a 6 hour drive between the cities with many people living there so much potential for used cars and boating friends (and many shops)
Philadelphia is also less than 3 hours north of Washington DC

You might be able to find an old Dodge Caravan or Toyota Previa.
The camper vans are expensive, and people do not sell them until they are ready for the junk yard.

Clarke Outdoors, in West Cornwall, Connecticut

often has last year's playboat models at super super discounts. They also have many used boat posted outside on their wall. They are closed for the winter but open again in March. It is worth looking into. During March, the Housatonic River runs big and a couple of good playspots come in. If it goes very big, then a super spot comes in. www.artandwater.smugmug.com/gallery/4524760_ZdVMn#P-16-12

I also deal with DragoRossi so can find you one of those boats from teh demo fleet. And, I have been in the industry for a long time so can find you many other things
