where to start in California 17 years 2 weeks ago #21006

Hello everyone,

I tried to look for a sticky thread for newbies, but didn't see any, so i hope i don't get flamed here xD

I'm really interested in getting started with river kayaking. I tried to google for companies that do guided kayak tours in California, but can't find any. Seems everyone just does rafting tours.

Can anyone help me out and recommend how/where i can get started? My friends and I are doing a rafting tour on the Kaweah River in Cali, but the companies out there seem like they don't do Kayak Tours.

Does anyone know where I could find a place in california to rent some gear and also do a guided tour as well? I'm hoping to get started on some class 3's ASAP!

Thanks!
~Mark

Head to Kernville, There is a shop there (name escapes me) that rents gear, there are numerous runs from class III to V all roadside and there are always boaters around to hook up with. Rebecca Glidden also has a great pub in town to cool down with a beer at the end of the day. Try the porter! mmmmm
