How would you guys like a paddling Wiki on Playak?

The idea is that everyone can share their knowledge very easily. I am not sure in how far this will overlap or complement the current Playak info. Also, I don't know if people actually want this and are willing to contribute to it...

And so your feedback is required.

I put up a Wiki framework and you can already use it as you like.

Depending on your feedback, and on how that wike page will develop (and of course, depending if we can keep it free of abuse), I'll probably leave it active, just as a test platform, for a couple of months, and then we can decide..

playak.com/wiki

Anyway, feedback appreciated!

Enjoy and please behave on that Wiki :-)
Jeroen

I think this is a great idea, this will give us a tool to organize all the stuff we ask about over and over on the playak forums.

Good addition to this nice site.

glad you like it. now it's up to you all to fill it with knowledge :-)

main trick: to make a new page, just edit an old page and create a link to it. e.g. if you want to add new freestyle move, say the 'Fla-Flip', go to the technique page first:

playak.com/wiki/index.php/Technique

and then add the following line under freestyle moves:

*Fla-Flip

Then after saving, click on the Fla-Flip link and start editing... voila!

it seems someone added the definition of a cartwheel under technique:

playak.com/wiki/index.php/Technique

now come on guys, this paddling knowledge base will not fill itself automagically.... edit whatever you like and add whatever you like.

this is your playground!

no, the wiki will be a knowledge base, not a discussion forum (in which you are right now  )

you can of course add a thesis and hope that others will correct you. i.e. you define that an eskimo roll is a snack for cannibals, and then other users will edit that definition to correct it.. but it's better to start with definitions that are sort of correct of course...

Gotcha...
I still like the idea and look forward to seeing how it is used.

Now I'm hungry I suppose there is not a local eskimo roll stand around?
I'll have to settle for something else in my roll....

e.g. if someone has an answer to the how-to zero-to-hero question earlier in the forums, why not write it in the wiki as well, so more people will be able to find it in the future:

playak.com/wiki/index.php?title=Zero_to_hero&action=edit

One not so constructive visitor tried to deleted most of the technique section yesterday... Please be constructive. If people keep using the wiki just to break stuff, I'll probably shut it down one day...

Enjoy,
Jeroen
