Hi Cjcc,
Thanks for your comment.
This vehicle has a lot of desigs, much more than only kayaks, because she can also be a kayak but not only that, she can be a "kayakart", a rowing or a pedal or a sail watercraft, even a multiple users watercraft (I say watercraft, because she is not a kayak, even though the basic conception is of a kayak).
The model that you see here is a prototype, that was made to be used in a tropical country, where the weather and water are not cold, so it's really good to "take a shower" when you're paddling. I made it for my wife, she is for her weight and was made to become as small as possible. By the way, the "actor" on this prototype never paddled before and took a lot of showers - I counted around 30, but lost the count because I couldn't stop laughing.
Her construction and conceptions possibilities are almost unlimited.
What you said is a fact in Europe or other cold region, but there are other solutions to keep the water out. In my opinion, raising the sidewalls will make her less beautiful, but it is only a particular opinion about design. Besides this conception of watercraft has a space between the modules, and the paddler has a close contact with the water.
This project consists basicaly of floating and hydrodinamics modules coupled longwise by beam(s), the inverse of the catamaran idea, where the modules have parallel attachment.
I think it is always important to remember that I only protected this patent royalties in Brazil, so anyone outside here is free to produce it, I only ask to be recognized that this conception is mine. My (1997) patent was copied by a multinational that alledges to have invented the idea, but its patent was deposited on December 3, 2004, two days after the vanishment of a letter of proposal I sent to Petrobras. It was posted with all the safety requirements due to this type of document, that was supposed to be delivered only in the hands of the addressee. The copied model is the same model of my letter of proposal, the only difference is that the copy has an inflating section, like a bike inner tube, around the rim of the kayak. This multinational stole my patent and is aware of its crime, and because of that it did not deposit its patent in the United States and in Brazil, even though these were 2 of the designated States in this multinational's international patent. In the USA, this multinational deposited only a design patent for this product, and it told me that it was not going to sell this kayak here in Brazil. Until now this kayak, even having a great demand here in Brazil, can not enter here. Thus, I state that any person or company can produce my invention around the world (in Brazil, anyone interested needs to talk to me) because what this multinational claims is a lie, is a robbery. The biggest prove of what I am saying is that 3,000 years ago floating modules were attached in parallel by beam(s), this invention is named catamaran, in case it has two modules, and trimaran, if it has three. But never the modules were attached longwise by beam(s). Also, all the present kayaks made with more than one module follow several designs of this invention, these models use other coupling methods (fitting or screwing the modules), and are not, in any way, a copy of my invention. This information about the patent robbery is not in my site because I removed it in an attempt to try to negotiate with this multinational, but as far as I could understand dishonest robbers don't deal with honest people.
Anyone that wants to produce this invention can do this, because I have all the legal basis to defend anyone before this crooked company. I am only posting this here because I know Jeroen is not sponsered by this multinational, if he were, I wouldn't write about this here, because to my understanding it would be a big lack of respect with him that offers this space in his site to the promotion of my invention.
You can see some designs of my project in the site below or in my photos album here in Playak.
