Nov 3 Social Instagram A look at #lifeoutsideofwork on 11/2/17 we headed to Texas for some training tomorrow, but today was #adventure #fun day. We went to Rio Vista Park in San Marcos, Texas to play at the Kayak Park. We’re new so not to embarrassed we fall a lot and we have a ton of fun. The. In Mew Braunfels, Texas where we’re staying for our training we’re at the start of the spring fed Cormal River. Cormal is so clear and the view of the large bass, deer, and other wildlife is exactly why I #love the #paddleboard in San Marcos my board is 4” thick and I haven’t learned how to control it when it’s under water, but when on the #sol I made it down the shoots. Nov 1 Social Instagram 'Kern River provides!' Yep, as I said I kayaked with the boys from yesterday again and I rinsed my new bucket for the first time.. Big Five was actually much smaller than upper Miracle Run, but still there was few fun rapids and smooth moves. Brett not only wears a Butters' ('...that's me!') patch on the back of his pfd, but since he's local, he knows the river, so following him wasn't bad thing as he doesn't just run down the most straight forward easiest lines but looks for fun, catches eddies, surfs waves, ferries around boulders and bounces off rocks. I don't do that, I'm saving that plastic, you know, paddling carbon boats almost all life makes a habit of protecting the material from unnecessary hits, haha.. Anyway had good time with good people on nice scenic river, but it was time to move forward. On my way out I stopped couple times by the Cataracts and checked few spots out. There are lines with this flow there and there, that would be kinda ok. And in between there are nice sections. But then comes something sketchy, blocked obstructed river bed and you understand why nobody's there now.. The Toiletbowl or how they call it and these three biggest drops are sick.. especially after watching the videos with Evan Moore running it this year with high high water just with his dad on the bank watching..
