Nov 6 Social Instagram When my transducer arm broke and my anchor trolley clip snapped, it was pretty clear to me that the good Lord did not want me fishing out deep anymore. Well, after a lot of wasted time, I listened, went shallow, and caught a 25.5”. That’s how tournament fishing goes sometimes. I had high expectations for redemption at this year’s Yak4it Tournament of Champions that I just couldn’t follow through on. While disappointing, I can’t express how much fun I had getting to compete with and catch up with the dynamic crowd of anglers we had from all over the United States. On Thursday morning during official pre-practice period, I had the pleasure of having breakfast with Cody and Travis from West Texas Kayak Fishing. We had an awesome conversation and blew way passed the morning bite chatting. I don’t think any of us minded one bit. It was a subtle reminder that while we are all competitive, and all there to win; we come together for so much more. I want to take a moment and congratulate Tyler Cole on his win this weekend. From the little conversation we had, he embodied the definition of a true champion. He is an incredible representative for our sport and I cannot wait to get the opportunity to fish against him again. A huge thank you goes out to Cody Prather and Duc Tran for running one of the smoothest tournaments I have ever fished. These guys take the role the tournament director and go above and beyond. Aside from excellent tournament directors, they are great friends. Many thanks to Cody’s wife Holly for the awesome Mexican food she cooked up for us before Day 1! Finally I want to thank my incredible supporters in this sport; Diablo Paddlesports, Backwoods, Werner Paddles, Shiner Energy & Consulting Corp, Xcite Baits, Daiwa Corporation - USA, MHX Rods, SeaDek Marine Nonskid, Somethin'Fishy Custom Rods.The Xcite Baits shadnasty swimbait may or may not have played a role in landing my second ever Lake Fork over… Those of you that know me know that my 2017-2018 waterfowl season begins NOW! #glorytoGod
