Nottingham, Newark Weir

Newark Weir
Playspot: UK, England, Nottingham, River Trent, Newark weir

What's it like

When the river level is between 1.8min and 2.3max a wave is formed in two weirs. To find out what level the river is on you can call: +44 (0)1159615690 - the number dials a modem which emits a long beep, followed by a break then beeps after that correspond to the level (each one being a different tone) i.e. (beeeeeeeeep)--beep-beepbeepbeep-beep would mean 1.31

Newark Weir

River right is the better of the two, although shallow (paddle blade). It's a great wave to sit on all day and blunt and carve and spin all day. The width of the wave is about 15m to 20m.

Note: after 2.3 it tends to be a closed in stopper and is very dangerous.
