If there is one thing we can learn from surf kayakers and wave skiers, it’s that getting out through surf when you can’t dive under the wave is tough.

SUP surfers face the same issues. Who has not been stuck on the inside, battered repeatedly by roller after roller, unable to get up and over them? Master boardshaper, and Olympic kayaker Corran Addison simply applied what he’s been doing to kayak shapes for years.

The “sidewall” (or rail) of the board has been raised and stacked with volume, and also thickened from the nose through the center of the board. This adds significant initial and secondary stability, and also reduces deck wash (which trips you). At the same time, the center of gravity has been reduced by lowering the foot area, and control and “hold” increased by adding slight upward slant to the outside of the foot area. The end result is a very stable, and agile board that can paddle out, up and over anything the ocean has to throw at you.

Yet this board is no slouch on the wave. The rails themselves at the waterline are still small enough to dig and drive, and the rocker through the tail allows you to turn the board effortlessly, flat or on edge.

The single concave in the center of the board rolls evenly into a pronounced V in the tail so the board rolls from rail to rail easily despite its extra width and thickness.

If you’re looking for a board thats easy to paddle and surf, without having a 12’ tanker, then this is the one you’ve been looking for.
