C1: rodeo, splitwheel
A cool move that is hard in a kayak but easy in a C1. It looks cool and is even higher scoring than a cartwheel, though it's just as easy. The numbers in the corner of the animation relate to each passage of text.
- Drop the back into the flow of the water using the paddle to push on the pile to help the back into the flow and for support.
- Begin to tilt the boat at about an angle of 45 degrees and use the paddle to bring the front up and use it as support. Your body should stay vertical with the boat at this point.
- Now begin to lean back to get the tail more planted in the water so it goes above 45 degrees and keep the paddle on the pile to keep it stable.
- Begin to lean forward and turn the paddle over onto the non driving face, ready to smash the front forward.
- Lean on the blade and with your hips throw the front forward smashing with the blade to get the front to dig into the current.
- The front will now begin to dig, so lean all your weight forward and throw your hips towards the sky to and also push on the blade.
- The front will dig and the boat will go vertical now with your hips. The paddle will begin to flatten the hull and bring the back round to you. Drop onto your off side.
- Keep using your hips to throw the boat round and begin to bring your blade round
- Keep the paddle coming round and use your hips to hold the boat sitting in the stopper and from this you can spin onto your onside or set up for a cartwheel.
