North Rhine-Westphalia, Grevenbroich, River Erft, Slalomkanal
Playspot: Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, Grevenbroich, River Erft, Slalomkanal .
What's it like
There is a nice hole at the end of the Slalomkanal that can be cartwheeled with ease. This little stopper is about 3 meters wide and nicely retentive, but sometimes quite hard to control. Big eddies on both sides.
The water level is controlled (automatically) by the weir just upstream of the slalom course. The normal opening hours are (in CET):
- April - October:
Mo - Fr: 16:00 - 20:00H
Sa - So: 10:00 - 17:00H - November - March:
Wednesday 15:00 - 18:00H
Saturday 10:00 - 17:00H
Sunday 10:00 - 17:00H
How to get there
Take the A46 and leave it at exit Grevenbroich. Take the first right and then turn left at the second crossroad. Follow the street until the large roundabout and take the first right. Carry on straight and turn right just after you have reached a crossroad. Go straight on until you see the Erft. Turn left and continue until you see a car park. Park and walk a little bit upstream along the Erft to access the spot.
