If you have ever experienced a conflict with others that affected your enjoyment of surf activities, please consider helping by taking and passing on this survey (link below). I am a student gathering some information primarily for a class paper but which may also be used by the public or local governments to understand the nature of surf related conflicts. The hope is that by better understanding the nature of the conflicts, steps may be taken to increase enjoyment for all and reduce conflicts of all kinds. You will be able to view the survey results when you complete it. Please pass this message on to others who you know enjoy the surf and feel free to make a posting to your web site. Thanks!

Do not pass this on after Jan. 1 2008. The survey will close at that time or sooner if the number of responses is overwhelming.

Maybe it helps to announce that you only want U.S. paddlers to take this survey? I can't select my country, in the list are only U.S. states, so I exited the survey without filling out the rest of the questions.

No Survey needed the answer is simple, conflict is human nature, get rid of mankind and conflict will cease. Other than that you are wasting your time.

Since man started to dominate the planet we have gradually expanded or defended areas through aggression, simple neandothilic nautre of defending and expanding territory.

Surfers - kayakers
Fishermen - Kayakers
Skiiers - Snowboarders
America - rest of world

It seems that conflict always starts when the new kid on the block starts to shout louder than everyone else or appears to be growing in numbers / strength, this then forces the others to defend territory. The only way to stop this would be to have complete segregation divide the beech in two, but we all know this doesn't work either.

You need a planetary shift in human nature.
