Hello

I am looking to get into kayaking for fun & fitness. I am 51, 6'4"/250 lbs. No whitewater in my area so I want it mainly for use in a bay, river and occasionally Lake Erie. My first big question is whether to go with a Sit on Top or the kind you get into. For someone who is not into competition or whitewater, is anyting wrong with getting a SOT?

Thanks
Kim

Big big reason I am looking at the Wilderness kayak is because I have a friend who is a dealer and will probably get me the best price.

Huge? My biggest fear is, with a 36 inseam, getting something too small. Also, at 250 lbs., I need to pay attention to load limits. And...I've read the longer the boat, the more speed. That is, speed not produced by white water.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

If i were you i would buy a closed cockpit kayak (ie a "ussual" kayak) Not only would it be more versatile allowing you to play around on surf, sea, day trips and whitewater but you get more choice aswell.

Ok, I think you talked me into it. Now I am looking towards a Wilderness Tsunami 145.
