If you could choose a new paddle... which feathering of the paddle would you choose and why?
Specially just for playboating!
What do you think about unfeathered paddles?

i always argued that 0 degrees would be the best, and theoretically i still think this is true, but when i tried one i noticed that it is a bit trickier to roll. you really have to make suer your offside blade is in the air, as it will cut itself downwards while rolling...

during paddling, 0 degrees makes send i think, as long as the wind is not too strong. just make sure that both hands act as leading hands. and someone dais that a disadvantage with 0 degrees is that when you paddle throuh huge holes, you'll get the upper part of the backwash on your offside blade, which makes it more difficult to pull the paddle through (but personally i never paddle in such huge things :-) )

all in all, you can't go wrong with 20-30 degrees...

The really huge holes shouldn't be a problem for me, as long as i'm paddling in switzerland... ;-)
Till now i haven't tried a zero angle paddle... but i can imagine the trickier roll...
Thank's for your answer. I'll try a 20 Degree feathering

I just switched to a 12 degree paddle and love it. I've paddled 30 and 0 feather, and find the 12 to be a nice compromise of easy rolling, and still great for playing and bow stalling. A lot of watersticks were 12 degree and are still out there on the used market.
