Born in Hungary Budapest, Tamas moved to Canada with his family in 1987 as his father Tamas Sr. became the Canadian National Canoe coach where he coached the team for 25 years! Tamas followed in his fathers footsteps and started his Sprint canoe career at age 9. Tamas represented Canada at the Junior Worlds and countless World Championships with Three Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004. As a World Champion medalist and a 3x Olympian, Tamas retired racing and became a coach just like his father and coached for over 10 years in Ontario and Quebec! Tamas is still coaching at the local canoe club in Montreal part time and in his other spare time, after being a full time dad and husband, runs his own SUP coaching company! Tamas teaches and introduces this wonderful sport to adults and will soon be introducing a kids program during the summer! His company is called “the Lake SUP Glider” Which has grown into a fantastic strong group over the past 5 years!
Training has always been Tamas' lifestyle so racing with his trusted Quickblade paddle and fast SIC sponsored boards he also loves to compete in some of the pro circuits and even managed to become a World SUP Champion is his age category at the ICF sup world championships in 2019!
