The world's latest paddling headlines.
Canoe Roots Dispelling five familiar, false facts about canoeists
Canoe Roots - After a decade of columns in this space dedicated to the history, heritage, esoterica and minutiae of canoeing, written for paddlers and would-be paddlers, it occurred to me that there might be people out there who are non-paddlers. Maybe the spouses or children of readers, who might pick up Canoeroots out of curiosity or from self-preservation having to share living space with a person who goes on and on about all things canoe. For the benefit of these folk, here’s a debunker’s guide to the paddling mythosphere.
Trash Paddler More trash around then could carry in kayak – River Nirvana
Trash Paddler - With yet another day of record-breaking warmth I decided to pay the Nashua River a visit on Saturday afternoon.   I launched at the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge (Still River Depot Rd.) in Harvard and paddled a bit in both directions.
VE Paddles Sea Kayaker’s Mission to Save our Sea’s from Plastics!

Also let’s support him and do our bit in cleaning up seas.
Kayak Angler Magazine SUP fishing with the Red Paddle Co 10’8” Activ
Kayak Angler Magazine - At 10-feet, eight-inches long and 34-inches wide, the Activ MSL is perfect for quick trips and skinny water. My favorite fishing hole is sheltered and pretty small, so it’s easier to launch the Activ than dragging around a kayak or hard board. The boat is short for quick moves and wide for rock-solid stability. The Activ is a reliable platform for fishing and paddling.
SeaKayakPhoto.com Grey Moidart skies and green seas
SeaKayakPhoto.com - As we carried the boats to the water's edge, low grey clouds were streaming from the summits of hidden mountains to our east. Under the grey skies the shallow water appeared an almost luminous green that matched the green of the machair we had just left. Although the clouds were scudding over head we were paddling in the lee of the cliffs until we passed the ancient crofting township of Smirisary.

Hala The Modern SUP Quiver
Hala - as with any equipment dependent sport such as SUP, skiing, or climbing, the concept of one, all-round tool is great, but hardly practical once the desire to progress sets in.
Irene's Kayaking Blog Get the most essential skill required for white water kayaking right
Irene's Kayaking Blog - This is a post I’ve been meaning to write for a long time. Whether you’re a beginner/intermediate whitewater kayaker or a “gnar” paddler who occasionally coaches others (especially if “other” is a significant other), I hope you’ll find it’s worth your while. OK, basically – people, please make sure you learn to paddle forward – strongly, efficiently, and effectively. A good forward stroke is the absolute key to pretty much everything else you’ll want to accomplish in whitewater kayaking (aside from a dependable roll, which is also super important).
