WRSI is proud to introduce their new 2008 product line

The Whitewater Research & Safety Institute (WRSI) made a huge impact on the sport when they introduced their helmet line in 2005. On the water it is clear that the community has grown more conscious about head protection and WRSI has lead the way in upgrading the helmet industry. The WRSI helmet now seems to be everywhere.

In 2008 WRSI has revolutionized another safety product which has not had a significant upgrade in 25 years. WRSI turned the attention of its designers, rescue instructors and elite athletes to revolutionize Throw Bags. The “Hail Mary” Rescue Rope is the astounding result. The features include; a football shape, complete with real threads for throwing overhand; a foam-walled bag, providing big float while eliminating any foam block, and a huge expandable mouth that makes stuffing much less painful. It also comes in 7 different configurations. “The football shape is just genius; you don’t see Tom Brady throwing it to Randy Moss underhand. People are just so much more accurate throwing overhand.”(Brad Ludden).

Another exciting new product from WRSI is the removable, moto-cross style Face Mask, “The Pinch” Detachable Facemask. With the Pinch Facemask you simply “pinch” the back in and it snaps right in to all 2007 and beyond WRSI helmets. So if you bought a WRSI helmet last year, “The Pinch” will work with it. Since it is removable you can store it in your boat when you don’t need it and break it out when you’re lining up the big one. For those that want face protection but don’t want to wear it all day, this is a stylish and functional option. “Just store it in your creekboat and you have one more reason to fire up the big one.”(Nick Turner).

WRSI is also introducing a new Smaller Helmet. This helmet will fit kids, women and just about anyone with a smaller head. Same great function as the larger helmet, but eliminates the bulk on smaller heads. “I loved the WRSI helmet and tried to use it, but I have a small head and it fit bulky on me. The new smaller helmet fits perfect and now I get the safety features of the WRSI helmet.” (Crystal Young).

The Red Camo helmet WRSI released as a limited in 2007 was a runaway hit. The project supported American Whitewater with around $3,000 raised to support American Whitewater. For 2008 WRSI is releasing a new Grey Camo. This helmet is a subtle Camo that does not stand out from afar, but is a really cool pattern up close. The Grey Camo limited edition helmets are almost completely sold out for 2008 already.

You can look for the “Hail Mary” Rescue Rope and Grey Camo helmets in February 2008. “The Pinch” Detachable Facemask and the improved (EPS) Ear Protection System will be available in March 2008. The stylish small shell helmet will be available at local retailers in March 2008 as well.

“The excitement over the new products has been somewhat overwhelming,” said WRSI Vice-president of Sales, Kasey Ankeny “We had no idea the products would generate so much buzz before they even hit the shelves.”

Founded in 2004, to develop, manufacture and distribute safer water sports gear, WRSI has become a leading brand in water rescue equipment today. For further information the company or the 2008 products listed in this article please visit www.whitewaterhelmet.com
