Hi

Im an Irish C1 boater heading to brisbane around October time.
Im finding it very difficult to find any information about rivers though, Is there anything there? Obviously there is more than enough surf to keep me occupied but some rivers would be nice too!

Cheers

Niall

This is Australia! It's big, it's flat and it's dry. Not good conditions for whitewater kayakers (and C1'ers) unfortunately.

I'm not sure whats around Brisbane. I know Far North Queensland has more options. However, despite being in the same state, it's not close at all! The Nymboida area has a number of good rivers. It's close to 6hrs drive South though, so this would be better if you had a week off to go paddling.

Generally you'll be sitting around waiting for rain. You'll also need to be prepared to travel a lot to get to any paddling.

There's some river info here you can look at: www.adventurepro.com.au/paddleaustralia/
There's also a link on the left - 'PA Message Board'. I'd suggest posting up there to see if you can get the attention of some local South QLD Paddlers.

Good Luck! But as you said, between the whitewater, there's plenty of great surf all year round to keep you occupied ;)
