I am experimenting with some members-only functions on Playak. For instance, for some playspots, only registered users will see the route description and some other additional information. See for instance our Hawaii sur Rhone description:
playak.com/article.php?sid=253
(make sure you are not logged in to see the difference. if you need to logout first, click here:
playak.com/modules.php?name=Your_Account&op=logout )
Why is this, I here you think....
Well, rest assured. I want all info on Playak to remain free of charge, that's not the point... So what is the point? Well,
1. I tried to allow everyone to post comments and discuss things in the forums, without logging in, as long as possible. After almost 9 years of Playak, I had to stop this policy this year, due to people spamming the site with links about casinos and porn.
So these days, you have to be logged in to post anything. I noticed that people are sometimes to lazy to go through this simple login step, and so they don't post at all in the end....
And that's the main reason: I want to motivate people to remain logged in, so the forums and spot comments system will stay busy.
2. The second reason is a minor one: search engines are always anonymous and don't mind if some of the info is missing. On the contrary, the missing info may even distract them. So by cutting out some info with 'boring' keywords, the Playak search engine rankings may actually improve!
Anyway, I would like to know what you girls and guys think of this. Is it acceptable?
Any feedback would be appreciated....
Regards,
Jeroen
