Awesome

Firstly I both paddle rivers and enjoy playinboating. On the rivers I usually paddle grade 3/4 and have pushed my boundaries to grade 5. I am not the most freestyle minded paddler but do enjoy surfing and playing in holes and I would say my best move would be a helix. Never mind me though! As for the boat, I usually paddle my Kingpin 6.3 which I have owned from new for about 10 months and all I can say is I didn't need to keep the receipt as this baby wasn't going back! Whatever you throw at this boat it copes, without a problem. This boat is a world class playboat, which to me is definetly true, yet can also cope with your grade 4 river. This boat is intended to be thumped about in holes, and riping up waves, which is its job. On the waves this boat carves, really well, and spins on a 't'. In the holes mind this boat excels, cartwheels are not a problem, nor are forwad flips. However when in holes, and cartwheeling this boat is not 100% stable, and on the waves the hull is...

The Real 180!

The 180, what can I say, sweet in a hole has plenty of pop to get huge aerial loops and still slicy enough to throw down some sweet ends and all the hard tricks like a phonix monkey or a tricky woo. On a wave has a nice flat fast hull to bounce high off the green to throw every wave move imaginable helix, air screws and huge aerial blunts. It has nice forgiving rails so it’s easy to move it round on a wave and you’re not going to get slammed in a hole. Volume distribution is good, plenty around the knees and behind the cockpit and still enough at the tips to keep it level but still slicy. The out fitting has improved a lot, new thigh braces that are fully adjustable and are so comfortable nothing can compare. A new seat is on its way much like the Huka seat to reduce weight and to keep the hull as hard as rock. The back band has been improved to give more support to your back and a few new features have been added...

Sweet little boat.

Let me tell you about myself a little bit. I am a bigger paddler at 6-1 and 210 pounds. I have been paddling for less than a year but since I go two days a week I have already put 50 some days on the river so I am not a novice. I am currently paddling class III all the time and paddling class IV as well. Regardless I have bought and sold several boats since my initial foray into whitewater. I started out in a wavesport super ez and then bought a Perception Full Tilt and then a Riot Nitro finally I traded for the best play boat I have been in. The Big Wheel. The first time I paddled the Big Wheel was on the Ocoee and it was a very solid little river runner but where the boat excelled was on the playwaves and holes. I was able to link ends and stall out both the bow and the stern with relative ease. The only thing you need to be careful of is if you like air you may want a different boat. But for...

The Jackson Rocker is a -simple- cut above the rest.

I will say it now to save you the time: Jackson did a great job and designed one wild creek boat! After doing the research, making the order, and then waiting 5 months patiently for my jet black Rocker I was more than ready to unwrap the thing and put many hours of reading Jackson web site updates and technical data study into reality by the time it arrived. I finally was able to pick the boat up during the week before labor day weekend which was a little late as I was just about to set out on a 4 day self support trip down the Babine and Skeena Rivers, northwest of Smithers, BC. There would be 11 of us in total on the trip, most hailing from Terrace and Kitimat with myself and a close friend driving the 20 hours north from Nelson, BC (I had been living in Terrace during the previous year). The trip is sorta less on the paddling and more on stunning scenery, but, when you least expect it, you suddenly find yourself getting back-endered into massive mirage like holes or pin-balling thru tight constrictive boiley and churning canyon hydraulics...

Stable reliable boat

Been paddling a year in a variety of Rivers from a float to a Class 3 and in one unfortunate incident a 3+. Been using a WS Z with fare success but was having a hard time with stern squirts throwing me around.....usually upside down. Read a journalists review on the hoss..."big brother that will take you under it's wing...great for beginners" and so forth. When he mentioned it didn't stern quirt and was easy to roll I was sold. Test location: Adams, Cottonwood, Quesnel Canyon. Had it sent to meet me in Kamloops on my vacation. Tested it out on the Adams River. Fell in love with it instantly. It's initial stability isn't as pronounced as the Z but the secondary is freaking amazing. Got it home and did the Quesnel Canyon. I know those whirlpools would of pulled the stern down in the Z but the hoss handled them with ease. The oncoming wavetrains were "eating" my fellow kayakers in their playboats while I was free sailing over the tops. Sure they wanted to get smashed around but I didn't....

what a surprise

Great fun in holes, fun on a wave, fun on the flat. All in all a great boat. Well the outfitting lets it down but hey it works so I don't care.

long time boater review

I have been paddling ww for a long time. (15 years) and tried many boats over the years. I bought my booster in chrismas of 2002 and been paddling it for 3 years on class 3-4 runs. The Booster is the best boat I have owned so far. It is very responsive, and fast. it will run the most complex line, and be very predictable. Easer to roll that most old boats (Piroute, Sparc and 'X') The Booster also play's very well, surfs the waves most boats cant even catch because its so fast. Squirts nicely, but difficult to do flatwater cartwheels, but easly acomplished in holes. and outfitting is very comfiy but i do recomed replacing the backband with the bommer backband in the 2004 model if you know me I am just not happy if I'm not Gripping about something. so here is the down side. Its fast, to fast. this boat will have you carving like mad just so stay on the wave, If you stop the front deck gets buried quick. when going through foamy...

longterm friend

the I3 223 is by far the largest in pyranha's trio of all river craft. the I3 range has been sold as playfull river runners that will build confidence and go anywhere. and you know what...... they actually got it right! i've been living with the boat for around 6 months now and have taken it to the local play hole, coaching on flat water and moving, as well as a trip to the alps. i have to say that it performed admirably. the outfitting is the usual quality synchro 5 that we've all heard about by now and due to the extra volume in the bow you also have enough room for creeking footware. (something lacking in the smaller versions) in terms of playfulness the boat is lacking to say the least, (however i also paddle an s6f) when compared to real play boats but if a boat to build confidence in the hole and take you for those first surfs and spins is what your after, look no further. the river running side is what makes the boat fun. i often find that...

Can't believe nobody has written one yet!

About myself UK based Hurley regular. Test environment From a hole to a big green wave back to a 40 foot wide hole, depending on levels. Review Ripping. Absolutely ripping. I cannot believe that nobody has written a review on it as yet. Once these boats came on the scene early 2005 it quickly became clear that it was the fastest boat around which made it easily the boat going largest on the wave. Huge air. Fast transitions. Easy enough to cartwheel. Will loop given a deep enough hole. Conclusion Overall, this boat goes, big time. Not yet been superceeded as an all around top end air catching mean machine it's not been beaten..

The Sith rocks!

About myself I consider myself an intermediate paddler Test environment I bought this boat for bigger water playing and riverrunning like the Ottawa. Review This is the best overall play/riverunning C1 I have ever paddled. It is a fast slicey boat, but has the required stability of a C1. The volume distribution and with make it very balanced and stable, even when running big waves or boily water. Recovery in big water is easy. Playing in this boat is excellent, in holes as well as oon waves. It surfs, carves and spins like a dream. New school aerial play moves are probably not possible, but that's not what I was looking for anyway. It can be cut in volume and length to suit your weight and performance expectations, and custom layups are possible. The outfitting is basic, but excellent, a moulded in composite saddle, C-pillars in the frontal area of the cockpit and crotch stap anchors already glassesd in. All that's needed is add some foam to the C-pillars and the back of the saddle to get...

Poor Design / Warranty on the S6F

I got this boat as a repair. The back band and the thigh braces all mount on one bolt in the front of the cockpit. The torque of both legs and back all placed on one part of the boat has caused the boat to crack. The plastic in this area is too thin to handle these loads. Pyranha will send you a new boat if you are the original owner or they will send a large fender washer if you are trying to repair this boat. This boat is underbuilt. They have corrected this problem on later boats. So, while the outfitting is convenient and comfortable and the boat is great for free style, if you want more than one season out of this boat, send it back for a new one!

Good Hull, but outfitting can be a bit uncomfortable

The new Liquid Logic El Jeffe seems to be a great boat in big volume creeks. Its well ditributed 76 gallons keeps the boat steadily on the surface giving you lots of extra time to make your moves. It punches small holes easily and has good hull speed to blast through boils and eddy fences. The backband is bomber, but the small surface area can make it a bit uncomfortable when it is cinched up tight. The bar holding the backbands also gets in the way a bit when you try to get gear behind your seat. The thighbraces are also a bit too narrow if you have skinny knees, but you can probably glue extra blocks into them. Overall the boat has great potential, but (suprisingly) the outfitting needs some work.

Necky Mission

Hi Guys, I'm from Devon, England (UK). I recently bought my first ever boat (I only started paddling 8 months ago), but I have tried loads of boats. I wanted a boat that was big enough to get down large rivers with, but small enough play if there was a spot e.g. Rabioux Wave, France, not a flatwater player. I first tried the mission on flatwater, and needless to say, it blew me away. Being 6 ft 4, I had never sat in a more comfortable boat. It rolls like a dream. Hand rolling especially only needs the tiniest flick of the hips before you are up. Fantastic for hard core white water, where every second upside down counts. The spine running along the bottom of the boat means it accelerates fast for a small (ish) boat. I managed to keep up with a K2! The manuverability is fantastic. It so repsonsive to even the lightest of touches that even boulder dodging becomes as easy as paddling in a straight line. In the surf I was amazed. Carving waves seems to...

the safest creeker for me

About me I paddle creeks 95% of the time Test environment quebec creek class IV-V Review Got a Magnum this spring and I love it. The outfitting is great and easy to adjust. The thigh braces do a great job for me and when you had the triangular minicell and the other side of the knee you have great control on your boat. The Magnum has enough speed to do the must do ferry or catch the smallest eddy but it's not too fast. It's got a good accelleration and can keep its line yet it's easy to change direction. The new plastic is solid but if I could I would get one with a nose cap. The Magnum has very good first and second stability. It rides high on the water so you're not influenced by the boogie water, the volume distribution and rocker are very good and that helps you punch over the hole. There's a lot of volume on the stern and that helps a lot avoiding back endering. I will go...
