So with Northern NM in a heat wave the middle of December, a kayaking trip was in order. 2 of my buddies had never done a self support kayak trip before, so we decided to do the Lower Box. This is a great class 2-3+ run that is 16 miles long in a deep basalt canyon. We had a blast. The days were warm and the night was freezing. I have laughed as I have never laughed before. The wildlife was spectacular and the Big Horn sheep were out in full force. I think the Rut affected one of our teammates in particular, much to his dismay...

Ha Ha we in Donegal can really relate to that trip, at least as far as the booze and firewood. We don't always bother with those kayak things...
