Salzburg area, Kuchl, River Salzach, Kuchler Schwall

Playspot: Austria, Salzburg area, Kuchl, River Salzach, Kuchler Schwall.

What's it like

You will find up to five waves and a hole at this famous Austrian playspot. The best time is at low water levels: summer to winter. In spring (high water), you'll find a big hole (see pictures).

How to get there

Coming on the freeway A10 from Salzburg southwards, take the exit 'Kuchl'. Once in the village of Kuchl, you'll pass a filling station and a sawmill and the road will turn a bit to the left. Take the road to the right marked with a sign 'Badesee' and you'll pass a railway line. Now cross the river Salzach and then upstream you can spot the 'Kuchler Schwall'. There is a place to park at the left side (looking upstream) of the road.
