Neuville sur Ain

Playspot: France, East, Neuville sur Ain.

What's it like

the top wave

Two blocks of concrete in the middle of the river make a 200 meters rapid. There is a big eddy on the left bank, good for squirting. Depending on the water level the spot changes. The wave at the very top works between 140 and 190 cumecs. This is a one metre green wave which sometime braks slightly. It is good for flat moves but no eddy service so you have to carry your boat between rides.

the third wave

Between 40 and 100 cumecs, the second wave is working. It is the fastest and is very smooth. Between 135 and 150 cumecs, the third wave is working on river left. This is a narrow breaking wave, good for blunts and aerials.

How to get there

Between Lyon and Geneva. Coming from Lyon, take the A42, and leave the motorway at exit number 9 (Pont d'Ain). From Geneva, take A40 and then A42 towards Lyon. Same exit. From Paris, first go towards Bourg en Bresse, then take A42 to Lyon. In Pont d'Ain at the traffic lights, follow the Neuville sur Ain direction. You can park on the left bank, directlt at the foot of the bridge in Neuville sur Ain.

More info

Water level in the river goes between between 12 and 600 m3s depending on season. It usually work more in the autumn or spring due to the run off from the Jura mountains.. Call + 33 4 72565920 or use the French Minitel "3615 infocrues" for level info.
