It is an old sea kayak made by Q-kayaks in New Zealand. It is my 4th sit-in kayak after getting two Perception Acadia and a Perception Sea Lion. I am trying as many sea kayaks as I can so I can chose better the right one for me. The Penguin is 480 cm (15.7 foot) long and 61 cm (24 inch) wide. Its weight is 26.5 kg (58.4 lbs). There is a thigh brace support that can be removed. I think it is the pod version because I needed to purchase the purple tag large sea deck fit (94x55 cm cockpit) from Daytwo. There are two stowages for some camping and two bulkheads. The rudder system is a bit disconcerting at first for surfski paddlers used to a footplate. With the Penguin if you push the right pedal for turning right, the left pedal comes toward you (and opposite if you turn left). I got used to it pretty quick. The rudder is put down or up from a rope on the right side and not in direct line of sight when paddling. It is similar with the Perception Sea Lion. I prefer the system with the red and green balls to pull in front of me, like with the Perception Acadia. It is a common kayak in NZ but there isn't much about it online. I find it very stable and it tracks well while being able to turn easily. It is easy to keep a 7-8 km/h (around 4.3 to 5 mph) cruising speed.
