Perception Kayak Acadia 370 / 12.5 Maiden trip

My new and first sit in kayak! It is getting cold so I decided to get a small sea kayak. I belong to Auckland Canoe Club for over a year now so it was time to get a kayak better suited for day trips with some storage. I got two Perception Acadia kayaks because the vendor wanted to sell his two kayaks together... They are 22 years old but in an excellent condition. Their build quality is excellent and they are really solid. For example the rudder is in cast aluminium. Today was my first paddle and as usual with all my maiden trips I had crappy weather. The kayak handled very well the choppy sea and it tracks well even without the rudder. The rudder is helpful when going downwind. What is nice is being able to stop paddling and rest while it is gusty. I recommend the sprayskirt because we get well splashed in the waves. ...more
