Kayak Cross is a person-to-person challenge, on water flowing at various speeds, in various directions, both horizontally and vertically.
The kayak must operate at displacement, semi-displacement, and planing speed, and be capable of harnessing energy boosts as the water flow changes. It also needs to be capable of optimal control and rapid change of direction whilst minimising the risks of being impacted by another competitor.
This is why real-world prototyping in an appropriate and competitive environment was essential to our design process… not to mention, it’s also the most exciting part!
