I've been rocking this girls PFD for some time  :smt044 https://kokatat.com/msfit-tour-pfd-lvumft  have owned two of them.  What I like about it is the two pockets, a seperate vhf pocket, and the knife attachment point.  It's not really that comfortable either, but it works and I've been happy enough with it.

I'm looking for another like it and can only seem to find this NRS Chinnok

https://www.amazon.com/NRS-Chinook-Fishing-Lifejacket-Orange-XS/dp/B07M8PC7JC/ref=sr_1_3?gclid=Cj0KCQjwidSWBhDdARIsAIoTVb2zyyMpuQmirmGe2KxKO_PaM0-ZgoZ-t1J2okm1C4q3zU-dYmNDB9caAnVUEALw_wcB&hvadid=190527272841&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=200807&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=18414988438484352569&hvtargid=kwd-296912043996&hydadcr=9436_9900778&keywords=nrs%2Bfishing%2Bpfd&qid=1658152379&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

Anyone know of any other PFD's with a similar setup I guess specifically the VHF pocket and left and right zippered pockets.  In my left pocket I carry flares signal mirror a whistle and a compass.  My right gets used for sunscreen, lipscreen, and some other things.  But I really like having the dedicated vhf pocket and dont see a lot of them out there.

Or, what is your favorite fishing PFD setup and why?  I'm open to alternatives, maybe some other reasoning for the other configurations like just large pockets.  What do you like about your fishing PFD?

I have the Chinook OS, and have plenty of room for everything I carry: flares, phone, whistle, transponder, emergency knife, etc.. I clip my radio where the strap goes in on the right side.

I should add that the reason I specifically want a VHF pocket is so that the vhf isn't loose.  I had it hang up on the side of my yak while re-entering and it broke off once.  Same for the pfd knife, the attachment point is good, but the flap that covers the nose of the sheath also helps prevent getting hung up while re-entering.  Of course on the AI you can pretty much board anytime, but on a standard SOT I think these things are important for easy and quick re-entry.

You should totally get it. Chinook was a game changer for me. Those big pockets are a plus. It even has a clip on the back for emergency safety  attachments. I was using the kokatat msfit as well for 10 years and it’s function was somewhat limited. I think no matter which pfd you choose, you’ll have issue with radio or knife getting in the way when reentering, I know I did when I flipped and tried to get back. I just had to change the angle of reentry.

That does look more comfortable to me, thanks for the pictures!  I'll check it out soon as I can find a place to try it out.

I also have a pair of snips and forceps dangling from my pfd, and that looks like it would work well for attachments.

My only regret was I couldn’t get it in bright color. It was the last one at REI of that size and only had it in Charcoal at that time. Good thing I picked it up b/c they were sold out at other stores

Make sure your radio will fit in the pocket of the Chinook OS, my SH HX 890 was pretty tight which is why I use clip, and leash. Here is a picture of mine:

That sure looks like decent pocket space.  Do you like how it feels wearing it? Want to try this one as well.

Interesting info on PFD styles
? as I look at all the stuff folks are carring in vest I have a big question.
PFD are only rated for certain amount of buoyancy. So personal weight really needs to be considered. Now add to the equation the weight of all the stuff carried in PDF. Will you still be buoyant ??
Don't want to seem like a party pooper but the larger and heavier you are this really comes into the equation.
Yes if your wearing a dry suit or wet suit you will have a little more buoyancy. But street clothes become weight when wet? need to add that to equation IMO
May be time to jump in pool and test your set up ????????? Cheers

humans are less dense than water. so we float.  generally larger folks moreso.  Wet clothes weigh no more in water than the clothes dry, so luckily that wont make a difference in floating, only pulling yourself back onto the craft. It's the main conflict of the wader argument. Technically waders full of water in water don't have an effect on your buoyancy, but pulling an extra 150lbs of water into the air/onto the kayak makes a difference. Drowning in waders is #1 cause of waterfowl hunter deaths in the midwest because of this phenomenon. people tire themselves out trying to rescue themselves plus all the extra water when they can float just fine and remove the waders before rescuing. but by that time they are too tired and cannot stay afloat if they don't have a PFD.  You would need to be roughly 400lbs to need a 18lb vs 17lb pfd
