Good news from LA County today.

Mayor Garcetti update tonight. We have the first single digit increase in new cases since Mar 19th. So we may be over the hump. By my tracking we have had 500-600 new cases a day for the last 7 days (with a one day spike to 700.) I call that the peak, and it means that Beasho almost called it by a couple of days. Well done.

We also are now able to allow anyone to sign up for testing, even if you’re not in an at risk group.

Finally they reduced our estimated number of needed ventilators by 25%. Same for estimated needed ICU beds. We’ve been locked in for 3 weeks but it seems to have saved some folks.

Now I just need to get it and get over it (or get an antibody test) so I can get on with life and contribute to the herd immunity.

Personally I’m proud of my city. Let’s keep it up.

I've become a fanboy of our governor Gavin Newsom. He went to work to acquire ventilators, had to repair 170 of them, and now has more than we need. Because he was quick to call the stay at home, the projections are less than previously thought, so he can now offer them to other states.
