Hi guys!
I'm newbie and moved to Santa Clara river mark area last Nov.
I just got CA driver license which is needed for purchasing fishing license :)

Soon I'll buy fishing license.

I prefer to go saltwater kayak fishing as I enjoyed it in Korea.
Do you guys think from when kayak fishing season will start on OP or HMB ?

Since I'm newbie and my English is not good enough, it wouldn't be easy to find buddy in online.

I guess I could meet someone in the field when season is open.

There are species for all type of fish here.
Technically, you can fish year round.
All you need to do now is to read reg if you have not yet.
Bring your post up to 10, it will open you to member’s fishing reports. Go through that section and learn.
Good luck !

Yeah it depends on what you want to fish for. For me, the season starts and ends with salmon, so June through October. But there are lots of opportunities throughout the year for other species.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

My favorites are halibut, striped bass and rock fish.

I think I need to upload 10 posts first.

So I guess there is opportunity from March :)
I've never got salmon yet.but it sounds exciting.
I 'd like to try salmon someday.

Welcome Jimmy!

Use caution when just learning the fishing rules.

Many fish names are used very loosely, and it can lead to serious consequences. Striped bass, sea bass, rock bass, rock fish, and rockfish mean different things to different people around the country.

You don’t want to be the new guy who thinks that sea bass and rockfish are the same fish, catch a Black Sea bass, and think you caught a world record black rockfish as you take photographs of it on your kitchen counter.

That example might seem a little far fetched, but I think there’s a chance it could happen.

Stay safe.

Here is the link to the 2019-2020 Ocean regs - the new book is due out any day now:

When the new book is released, this link should (might?) take you to correct page:

I think this site is best for the currently opened species information, just click on the interested species:

If you want to travel to a different location you can click the location from the following site map:
