I’ll be visiting family near the San Luis Obispo coast from Sunday, September 22 through Wednesday, September 25 and would love to hit the ocean in the area of my youth while down there. I don’t have a clue what would be available to target and where to launch (hoping some of you can throw out some recommendations), but I’m sure I can stop along the big sur coast on my way home Wednesday and try for those big reds. Based on my last trip to big sur, I’d be bringing rockfish and lingcod gear and target them in SoCal as well.

If anyone is around the central/south coast and wants to meet up Monday or Tuesday (Sep 23 or 24), let me know. Same goes for Wednesday Sep 25 in big sur. Thanks and tight lines!

The launch from Leffingwell closer to San Simeon is a really easy one, I didn't catch any fish there when I was there in May because of technical difficulties, but I've heard good things. I don't really know any good launch locations in Big Sur other than Limekin, and some pretty spartan launches around Sand Dollar Beach.

excited for you though, rooting for some big reds in your future!
