2019 World Championships of Surf Kayaking, July 19th-26th- Teaser
The world’s best surf kayakers are in Peru for the 2019 World Championships of Surf Kayaking, taking place from July 19th-26th. The event is being hosted in Huanchaco, Peru, the birthplace of the famous “caballitos de totora” reed boats, which are considered by many to be the oldest ancestors of modern surf kayaks, dating back over 3000 years. Huanchaco is also known for its consistent surf, which picks up all swells, making it an exciting venue to showcase the top talent in the sport, competing in both individual, and team disciplines. “We’re expecting incredible rides from the biggest names in our sport, including many former and defending world champions, and we’re excited to be working closely with the town of Huanchaco to bring this event to Peru, home of some of the longest waves in the world, to showcase some of the pacific ocean’s world class waves,” said head organizer, Nathan Eades.
