It was fast. I don't know if it was any faster than the original scupper. Hard to say. Of course it was faster than my T-140. I don't know about the scalloped gunnels. They look Kinda weird. Those valve scuppers hang about an inch and a half below the hull when engaged and create a little drag.

Thanks for confirming what I have hoped for and expected from this boat.
Im interested in using the retractable valves. The venturi scuppers that I had on my wave ski only went about a 3/4" below the hull but it did not retract when not needed.
My priorities will be flotation and attachment points for leg straps, then I can get it out on the water.

You are welcome to paddle this kayak, I’m in Caspar. I’m selling it for $1k if you want it. I will send the new scuppers when they get to me at the end of March.

Thanks for the nice offer, but Ive already paid for the new one that I hope will arrive at the most recent promised date.  If I still lived in Lake county I might have come to Caspar just to paddle, but now there is this wall of rock and ice that keeps me close to home until spring.

Took this with my phone a few days ago just west of my place.

I think the valve only extends below the hull about 1”. When it’s in the up position it extends upward into the rear of the footwell about 1 3/8”. I don’t know what the second generator valves look like.

 Prepare yourself for shocking news.

I still do not have a kayak from Swell watercraft.  Now it's gone past 6 months since the boat was paid for.

Last "reason" was that it shipped but went missing somewhere between here and Seattle.

Ive been more than patient but close to getting a refund and calling it done.

Its a bummer, I was excited about this paddlers SOT.

If you are or were interested in a Swell super scupper, consider yourself warned.

Shipping kayaks has got to be the worst part of that business...   Many of the carriers won't accept a load over 12'..
Still would love to hear more about this one,,,  hang in there.

Just about everything that could go wrong has, and I still don't have the kayak.
The date of purchase was 11/18/2018 and no matter what excuses Swell makes, and there was a pile, they just were not ready to deliver a boat when they accepted my money.

I've been patient like a spider, but when I saw Swell recently posting up pictures, on social media, of happy new Scupper14 paddlers and one who purchased "yesterday", the only operative word that comes to mind is..   ignition.

Conversations got considerably stronger and Swell got a small dose of my own media blitz.

Swell states it will be here this week.    I have my doubts, and how can I not?
Swell is now concerned that this transaction may be damaging to the brands reputation.

If it arrives, it will be perfect or it goes back on the truck and I go after my refund.
It will be exactly as ordered, or back on the truck it goes.
Swell can't apologize anymore.
Ownership has offered that if this boat isn't perfect, he will send me another and at 50%.

This boat really needs to be something special.

 They do exist..

Unfortunately, this one will go on the storage rack for awhile.
Projects on my fishing boats need to get done.

There are some things that I want to get done before I get it on the water.
I did have it with me when I scouted a local lake but there was still surface ice and I chose wisely.
It's in the box for now, but that kayak is way too interesting to stay there long.

I hope Swell can get their ops running smoothly.
It's been interesting and sometimes frustrating, but I am glad that this boat is finally on the rack.
