decided to sell. $700 for the boat and drive. Also includes Lowrance mark 4 FF and rod holder. Does not come with paddle.
I purchased a white Hobie classic months back that had a considerable amount of salt water corrosion. I cleaned up the boat, replaced the rudder cables, and all of the elastic tie downs. The hull is in good shape. It had a few holes drilled in it which have been sealed, and I went ahead and added ram mounts for a rod holder and fish finder. Currently it is rigged with a Lowrance mark 4 with the transducer sealed in the hull with a thick layer of latex all around.

The drive took a lot of work, and even still I would say it operates at about 80% efficiency. I think someone else with more mechanical abilities could get it back to 100%.

I had a project in mind for the boat, but am also kicking around the idea of flipping it. I just don’t really know how to asses it’s value. Not sure of the year as I have not yet found the serial number. I’ve tried to research value, and found some reports that the earliest version of this model was fiberglass, and some consider the model (fiberglass or poly) a collector item since it is fast, light, etc...

Anyone willing to share an opinion about its potential value in its present condition?

Fella was asking $800, but the drive was completely seized. We settled on $400

That drive looks like it has the solid drive arms with bicycle threading for the pedals. If you would prefer a set of 2012 arms with pedals, all clean, and would want to trade let me know.

I’d say $600-700 is reasonable.

Thanks for the feedback. In my dream world, $1000 sounded really good, then I saw Badgers AI fully rigged posted for $1100. Mine having  a less than perfect drive definitely knocks the value down. I think $600-$700 is realistic, and encourages me to keep it for that project.

Ironically, my goal was to add an outrigger and trampoline, maybe Badger will trade me  :smt002

$600 would be a favorable flip 4 u bro.

Unlike a fine wine, hobies do not improve w age.  that 1 is the patch kit model.  does it have the fiberglass brace at the internal anterior drivewell?

i wldn't put an outrigger on that thing.  it wasn't enginerd 4 thta load

Sounds like I need to take a look inside...does your knowledge come from experience or is there a place I can do some more reading and learning about the boat that you could direct me to? Much appreciated

yes, bro, I hav much experienc w cracked drivewells lol.  was an early adopter and I bot sevral hobies.  Fortunately, I got hobie 2 warranty 2 hulls and got 2 new hulls out of em.  but i was real careful about buyin any used 1's afterward.

the initial mirage designs had sevral mechanical deficiencies and failure modes.  chiefly, their rotomolding produced a material knit line rt at the drivewell's bottom edge, where the hull experienced high stress oscillation (pump pump pump all day).  The way I popped my old green OB i was trying 2 stretch my butt and hammies and pressed against both pedals simultaneously.  Cracked!!!  started taking on h20 like titanic!

this hull problem pre-dated passage of CPSIA.  Nowadays there's no way they'd avoid the recall.  back then they issued a free retrofit kit comrpsing a fiberglass shim and epoxy to increase drivewell rigidity.

figure if u call hobie or ask authrozd resllr, they may provide a free retrofit kit.

You may want to keep an eye out for a Revo 11 or Sport. Because they would both be a better option than this oldschool Classic. Especially if you would like to add outriggers for stabilization and/or extra storage space.
