Iconic Trailhead Building In Ottawa Set For Demolition

The beautiful post-and-beam building in Westboro that opened in 1991 and housed Trailhead Paddleshack is now set for demolition this month (January 2018). Now dwarfed by the new buildings being constructed beside it, the "Westboro Connection Phase II" will replace the building with a new high-rise.

The owners plan a "sympathetic demolition", one where timber from the original structure will be repurposed in the community.

If you haven't already, check out the new Trailhead Paddleshack location at 2148 Carling Avenue which includes a lot of wood elements including the 30ft hand carved Trailhead sign made by Bill Mason.
