Celebrate Canada's 150th In A Canoe

150 for 150 are planning to celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary at Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park, Ontario and are inviting you to join them! At this family-friendly event the goal is to get 150 canoes out onto the lake and to hoist the commemorative flag.

The canoe is an icon that is symbolically Canadian to most. We recognize it’s importance recreationally, it’s significance historically, and not least of all, it’s ingenuity by the First Nation’s people. This unassuming vessel was pivotal to the First Nation’s people to thrive in this environment, and it was also this gift to the early Europeans that carved and created this country that we’ve come to know and love today. It is our goal and our passion to honour the canoe during Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations, for its value and importance to our nation.
