A great boat!

This boat i truley amazing. takes vertually nothing to get the ends underwater. Cartwheeleing is just a smooth, fluid motion. Definetly the best boat i have paddled!!

wow

I used to boat a lot, but recent years have seen me on the river only 3 times:( due to school. I was fortunate enough to meet up with my brother for a try of the Slip and his new boat. I was a little concerned at first since my last trip this year resulted in my first swim in I can't recall how long (doh!). The Slip is a pretty solid class 3 creek that basically has short rapids with drops followed by a pool after each. The creek is narrow and pretty pushy and there usually is only 1 good line, generally over a ledge , pourover, etc. Despite my fears and stiff technique, the Nomad was amazingly stable. If I was in my juice 7.1, I would have been upside down more times than I can count. The nomad punched through the holes, was super responsive, fast, and stable. There were at least 5 times that I caught an edge and the boat went past 90 without rolling over! The first time I experianced that feeling was really cool. After I...

nice boat

This is a good boat for a beginner to intermediate. It side surfs easily, is fairly fast, and front surfs relitively well. It is a good boat for river run/ play boatimng but can't do that many wave moves. It is easy to roll and a fun boat to start out with.

You can't even come up with a design of your own-? How cheap can you guys be-! Do you really thing the rest of the real world kayaking community will even consider buying your copies of the S-8-? I wouldn't count on it-!

easily damaged

i recently bought a lil joe, was amazed at the ease of padling and weight. not so ever the durability and the strangth of the plastic. day one grade 1 river a few scratches to be expected, i can deal with that, but then on the second day doing a grade 2 river not much water i managed to deform the hull of the boat. this surely isnt ment to hapen to a creaking boat in such little water. these boats have been designed to run big rivers, therfore my opinion is that they shudnt be damaged on grade 2 in such a way that mine has. iv taken it back to the dealer and theyve sent it back of, ill post what happens weather liquid logic take the blame for lack of strength in there plastic. other boats on this trip werent damaged at all. play boats and creak boats from various makes were fine, sadly mine been the only liquid logic mine failed all expectations.

Huka is a great creek boat

About myself size 10.5 (US feet) 30" inseeem About the test environment Mill Creek, WV; Manns Creek, WV; Lower Meadow, WV; Difficult Run, VA.... Review This boat boof's like a dream! It has great secondary stability when on it's side, and does very well busting through holes. boat lands great, weather penciling the big ones, boofing the small ones, or anything in between. Boat resurfaces very nicely. The big bulbious nose helps avoid pinning on some of the steep, low volume stuff. My borther who paddles a micro got in the Huka for 2 days and LOVED IT. the plastic has help up very well for me, and I have not issues with quality. the only downside is that the boat is not very fast. Conclusion Great boat for all levels of ability

Love the Disco....plays very well. However, I have the lightweight version and I cracked it in 3 spots. Totally useless now but got 3.5 years out of it.

S6X review...

Version 1.0 11/10/03 Version 1.01 11/12/03 -added a section on trim -fixed msc. grammatical errors -added a small copyright note Intro (everyone has to start somewhere) All right guys, there is so much controversy on this boat. But as Mr. Baldwin has so often done, he has told people to read between the lines and to keep an open mind. That is one thing that I have continually seen lacking in regards to the S6x, people just write it off without giving its fair chance. I am a college student and avid playboater. I do work in a retail Kayak shop during the summers and get out on the water about 6 days a week. I have tried all of the new boats, all of the 2003's that is. Riot Air 45, Necky chronic/vibe, Pyranha s-6, Kingpin, G-force, T1-3, flip/slick stick. I am 5'9" 135lbs. So that is what I am basing this review on. First off, while trying out these boats, the one that I ended up liking the best was the s-6. My store didn't have the s6x but i have always been a fan of Pyranhas...

S6X review

This is a very temperamental boat. If you are a beginner or even an intermediate, I would stay clear of this boat due to its edgy "I wanna go vertical" physical traits. If you are an advancing solid playboater, this boat is a terrific choice. No move goes undone in an S6X. Loops, goodness, there is some serious pop in the bow due to the redesigned S6X volume distribution. Front loops are so easy in this boat. Back loops..not as easy but possible. This boat is also unusually easy to roll due to the soft rails. It's almost like having another mini-hull on the side of the boat. Air/Blunts/backstabs- Feels good, thumb up. Pan Ams- Excellent. Loops - I dont know if there's another boat that pops like this one. Helix- Performed well but the weight is an issue. This boat is a small bit overweight. You can feel it a bit sluggish as you snap the boat overhead and try to rotate. Cartwheels.....too easy in this boat It performs most other tricks predictably. Scoops -...

Good all-rounder

I've been more used to park and play, having moved from London (Hurley, Shepperton, etc) than Scottish rock and water scenarios. I'm a L4 Coach and am working on the West coast now. I've used the boat in the surf and on some rivers, the Findhorn gorge for example. I like everything that the switch offers, it's predictable, has a smooth hull, I can get a bit of speed when I need it and I can certainly shred waves. Holes are ok, but the tail end can catch in steeper ones, and you get no lee way when transfering the edge, you have to be right on the button. The plastic is good, although quite thick, the security bars are good enough for rescue attachments and for a boat that feels quite wide it seems very stable once on edge! It's a great boat, a bit long compared to my 'pop' but has the speed to make good moves. The footroom is a bit limited and the outfitting 'traditional'. It's a tad heavy for long portages/carries but I'll be taking it to the Alps this summer and I...

booster blows

i have recently paddled the worst playboat i have ever been in i borrowed it of a friend after reading various glowing reviews about this atrocity the boat carves well but that is all it is good for. it has strange edges which means that to cartwheel you have to get the boat to a near impossible angle and you can forget about wave wheels, this boat is of course the riot booster!!! i hope that nobody else has fallen into the trap of buying this boat, what were they thinking when they designed this piece of crap??? and oh my god what ell is that outside my window any way ive said my piece. good bye.
