Suprised by its performance

About the reviewer not much to put here except hello Test environment . Review I tried many a boat before finally choosing the lil joe. Being well within the weight and height range I still find it a snug fit so those on the latter end of the wieght and height may want to try the next version up the Hoss. Over all getting it on the water I found that edging was an ease. My rolling has never been that great since i was taught, suppose more paractice is needed but it was an ease to do when i got it. Conclusion All in all a great boat..

Great all round kayak

About the reviewer Amateur sportsman with special interest on kayaking, mountain biking and running. Test environment Calm and moderate rough water with some strong tidal and weak wind Review The Ouassou is a reliable boat with great stability and quick response, very confortable, also adequate for several hours of paddling without problem. However it lacks room for even a small bag. The back of the boat could have been better usable with straps or a luggage net for instance. It lacks also a little bit of speed when compared with the RTM Mambo probably because it hasn't a real keel for crossing waves. The flat bottom is good for other things like stability and quick vectorial change. Conclusion Very usable kayak in almost any situation, a true four wheeler of the water. I will test it in white water very soon.

Project 62 - Easier than people say

About the reviewer I've just returned to kayaking after a long time out of the sport. I.e. Can't do helix's or any of the new moves that people are naming that to me just look like going upside down and rolling in style. Before I quit the sport I had been sponsored by; Wave Sport, Dagger, Pyranha, Mad Yaker then Lendal...to name a few. Test environment North Esk Review Before having bought this boat second hand the owner told me his reason for selling it was becasue it was just too big to get any rodeo moves. Then I asked another experienced paddler of a similar size and build what he thought; and he said it was just too big to do anything in it... So when I got on the river and the lads asked me to do something with it I set my head to thinking "this is gonna need some oomph"....it didn't. The first thing that will impress anyone around 6'4ft with size 12's is the comfort factor! This boat has ample room and I actually need to put some foam in if...

i4 A great Allrounder!

About the reviewer I've been paddling two years and this is the first boat I bought - I'm now a 3-star and paddle mainly grade2/3 whitewater when the chance arises Test environment nene WW course, lower Tryweryn, river Teifi, local playspots, anywhere with a wave... Review The Pyranha i4 is no longer in production but can still be found on ebay for around £250-£350. The boat is attractive to look at and still quite modern in design. It is sold as the only boat you will ever need but I find it is way too heavy and big to be a playboat (not that I have the skills) but it is an excellent river-runner! I initially had a problem with broken fittings but pyranha did send replacement parts for free (sent the wrong ones several times but at least I now have some extra free spares). This boat is a river runner par excellence and has handled everything I have put it through and still comes back for more - very stable and very easy to roll - also good in the sea (but the fittings will rust so wash it down properly) Conclusion I would...

Wavepsort project 45

About the reviewer Compete in youth freestyle and alpkit series, keen freestyle and creek boater Test environment Paddle aat hurley regularly as well as nottinham, then nene, tryweryn, and other rivers around the UK. Review Cartwheels, loops and blunts with ease. Legroom was an issue for me but for a shorter paddler it shouldn't be a problem. Outfitting is super comfy, and ratchets work really well. Hull is extremely fast on waves but does dent quite easily. I put a huge dent in mine when running boulter s weir??? Even so much better than the star. Conclusion Probably the best playboat out there for the smaller paddler. I highly reccommend it!

Definitely a fun boat

About the reviewer Mostly flatwater lake paddler, likes to play. Test Environment Flat water with slight wind chop at the Southwest Sea Kayak Symposium 3/30 Review I was fortunate enough to paddle the first boat in the US. I'm not small but the cockpit was a good tight fit, very secure. The hard chines made for great secondary stability, I felt more comfortable on edge than I do in my own boat (Pygmy Coho). The rather significant rocker provided a tight turning radius. With the skeg down it tracked very well. When pushing to speed, the bow wave was a little noisy, probably due to the added volume designed in to prevent diving in surf or wave troughs, a worthwhile design compromise. Conclusion Try it if you have the opportunity, I think you'll like it.

Lightspeed Chaos - An excellent choice

I live in a place on the West coat of Vancouver Island where I am lucky enough to "commute" to work by kayak everyday, and I also frequently go on longer day-trips up and down the coast and inlets nearby. The water around here can get pretty rough, and there are often whitecaps and considerable swell, even in the more sheltered areas, so the conditions are certainly not calm and we get everything coming across the Pacific. After borrowing about six or eight different kayaks, I decided to purchase my own, and I am extremely happy with the Lightspeed Chaos which I got for an excellent price. The only other boat I considered was the Current Designs Gulfstream, which after paddling for quite a bit, I think is not as good as the Lightspeed. The main reasons I would recommend this boat are: PRICE: Good luck finding a less expensive quality boat MATERIAL: The ABS plastic Lightspeed uses is lighter, stiffer and stronger than fibreglass, with the same super-glossy finish and it is substantially cheaper. The seat I have (an inflatble foam thermarest style deal) is also awesome, and...

nice little boat

About myself Intermediate kayaker, self taught About the test environment Flaming Gorge is a huge (90 miles long) reservoir in NE Utah/SE Wyoming (and quite stunning scenery) formed by damming the Green River. Very popular rec area can be quite choppy with many boats, but the coves are calm and numerous. Review I paddled the Atlantis for a few days in and around the coves in Flaming Gorge. Used it with and without the rudder. I would say the rudder is only needed when there is a crosswind or current to deal with...then it is very useful. Otherwise, the Atlantis tracks well, moves smoothly thru chop, and is quite stable without the rudder down. The light weight is nice as it allows cartopping and carrying without hurting yourself. Conclusion All in all, I give this 4 stars as an intermediate level, reasonably priced kayak and am looking forward to throwing it on the car many times in the future.

surfing the revision

About myself Been surfing for 20 years, i just purchased the "cobra revision" and I have easily doubled my quality "surfing" time. About the test environment This kayak is awesome in small (2-4ft) ocean surf. Imagine one of those absolutely perfect 1-2ft swells, just too weak for a 9 or 10 ft long board, that's when it's time to bust out the "Revision". This boat also does excellent on flat water, and it handles the side ways wind chop with ease. Review This is the first kayak I purchased, and I'm 100% satisfied with the quality & hull design of the revision. Conclusion Bottom line is 2 thumbs up for the cobra revision, small surf or flat watter, the hybrid design truly works well in the surf or just flat water paddling.

If you want a perfect playboat check this out!!

About myself I'm about 5ft 6/7 and am 130 lbs. In the past i have had difficulty in finding boats which i could initiate in flat water, which were fast on waves etc. About the test environment The test enviroments were hurley weir on two gates, and a pourover hole as well as a smaller, green hole. Review First impressions were excellent, the back grab handle is an improvement on the classic star series. and sitting in it was like a sofa, it is incredibly light too. On a wave it is super fast, Within 20 minutes i was firing up huge air blunts and a kind of weird air blunt/ donkey flip combo!!!! In the hole cleans were easy and it loops really easily. tricky woos were second nature to this boat. On the flat it was fantasticly easy to cartwheel splitwheel clean and even flatwater mc. nasty!!! with ease!!! Conclusion I would strongly recommend this boat as it is suitable for any small build person who wants to do freestyle and learn more at the...

Pyranha Recoil M

I bought this boat to try to get one of those boats that you can do just about anythng with, and I have been very impressed. Before even paddling it, I have to say it is one of the most comfortable boats I have sat in (although to their credit, I did get the connect 30 outfitting, which is uber-plush). My review will break into two parts to discuss its playboating and riverunning attributes. Playboat: As a playboat, this boat plays surprisingly well. I thought when I bought a boat like this that I would give up some of my play-ability. Pyranha cleverly added the majority of the length on the boat off of the tail, rather than up front, so it throws down for cartwheels and loops exactly like a regular boat. You do however need pretty decent technique, as the softer edges on the boat require some precision to work with for the best effect. The only place where it isn't as usable as a spub boat is when you try to get the added length of the tail around in small features, which requires some better technique and careful placement. The boat is also...

This is the best!!! for me:))

Gradient... oh, yes! This is a real creaker. Fast, turns on a dime and so on... It's a real whitewater tank. This autumn I've been riding the Gradient on the Paratunka river in Kamchatka. My friends told me that it's a very old boat and not very good. But... with the Pyrania Inazone 230, Zelezny Spunt & Rainbow Zulu, we had great problems on rocks... The Zelesny Igo: wrecked. Gradient: forever! What can I say... If you want to creek - the Gradient is for you. The outfitting is simple, but very very comfortable after some tuning. Speed - very good. Stability - good. A good, balanced boat for hard rivers.
