Short description of the project:

In September, young paddlers from four European countries will meet in Liptovský Hrádok in the middle of Slovak nature and the center of Slovak kayaking and canoeing. Project “Paddling! for Europe” is organized by young paddlers from kayak club Kamikse from Košice. During one week young paddlers from four European countries will paddle on the popular Slovak rivers Belá and Váh, test their paddling skills on slalom course in Liptovský Mikuláš and enjoy paddling disciplines like Fun slalom and Kayak cross. Besides paddling on Slovak rivers, we will translate the most commonly used expressions into five languages, thus creating a dictionary that will help to overcome the communication barriers among paddlers in Europe. We will do our best to present Slovakia as an attractive destination for tourism, kayaking and canoeing. The participants will prepare the presentation of national, not so commonly known rivers in order to promote them. As another result of this exchange, we will make a short movie that depicts paddler’s lifestyle. We believe that our film will considerably contribute to spread the interest in this exciting and popular sport. The event is cofinanced from the EU grant within the Youth in Action Programme.
