Jackson Kayak Kayak Fishing experiences 2016
Jackson Kayak - This was my first year since 2012 with no halibut, male sheepshead, or abalone, and my lowest Diver Of The Year score ever as well…. On the bright side though…after hunting them unsuccessfully since 2013 I finally managed to shoot some Striped Bass in the surf (actually managed to take 10 between May and August) and some were very nice specimens up to 43 inches and 31 pounds.
Alder Creek Kayak Immersion Research Klingon Sprayskirt
Alder Creek Kayak - Immerson Research Klingon Sprayskirt Review by Ethan Boswell I recently decided that I needed a new spray skirt.
Kokatat Fish Longer By Staying Warmer
Kokatat - The one thing I’ve learned being a Pacific Northwest transplant is that whatever the season, the water out west never really warms up. In Seattle we are blessed to be surrounded by several saltwater and freshwater fishing opportunities. No matter what your skill set is on the water, cold air and water temperatures can be life threatening, and it’s best to always be prepared for the inevitable.
Jackson Kayak Breaking down Big Water in your Kayak
Jackson Kayak - Nothing seems to put fear or doubt in an angler more than pulling up to a massive body of water for the first time. Pulling up to big water like the Great Lakes can be daunting, but with a little homework, extremely rewarding.

SUP Connect - What was your favorite moment from 2016? Was it seeing your favorite athlete win a major event? Was it seeing barriers being broken and limits being pushed? Or, was it all the SUP foiling? Whichever moment you choose as your favorite there is no denying that 2016 was a very eventful year in stand up paddling. Here, we list our picks for the 10 biggest moments (good and bad) in 2016.
Tony Paradise Top 10 paddles of 2016 - #2
Tony Paradise - For a number of years we have tossed around the idea of camping on Kellys Island.  Kellys Island is a short 15 minute drive from the big city and only a 30 minute crossing so its not a big adventure, unless its made to be, which Cathy, Gary and I did on the weekend of July 2/3. We launched from Long Pond to make the 30 minute crossing to the island. When me reached one of only two possible camping options we carried the tents and essentials for the night up the 30 meter cliff and pitched the tents before heading out for an afternoon paddle...
Tony Paradise Top 10 paddles of 2016 - #3
Tony Paradise - The weekend of October 1/2 was looking good and I was ready to escape. I thought back to a paddle we did out of Chance Cove back on May 15th when we stopped on a beach for lunch that looked a very good camp location. One Saturday Cathy, Dean, Derek, Gary, Hazen, Shane and I drove to Chance Cove and headed towards Masters Head to set up camp just inside the head.

Distressed Mullet All the Leaves Are Brown and the Sky Is Gray
Distressed Mullet - Today is the Winter Solstice well, at exactly 5:44 this morning. That moment where the sun shines at its most southern point, directly over the Tropic of Capricorn. The shortest day of the year, or the longest night, depending on your perspective.
Distressed Mullet The Inland Paddler Learning to Catch the Vertical Bumps…
Distressed Mullet - Lessons from the Climbing Wall. This offseason has been great.  I mean really great.  I have been listening to the aches and pains and backing off. I have been resting and making a concerted effort to get as close to eight hours of sleep each night as possible.

Standup Journal One Man’s Adventure to Sup Surf Unridden Waves In New England – by Travis Hayes
Standup Journal - At this point, I am frothing. Mickey is still cautious. Boards under arm, we jog back up the beach for our maiden attack on this untouched, unsurfed spot. I quickly distance myself from Mickey as he fumbles with his paddle and leash. I turn the corner the second time and see another promising looking set break. My heart leaps and my pace quickens. I plunge into the icy water, timing the shore break and easily paddle out beyond the impact zone. The wind is blowing in light gusts straight offshore. The water is placid, yet dark and ominous.
