Just Add Water

Amazing what 4 to 5 inches of rain can do.  This afternoon I paddled the same stretch of river as last Monday and found quite a transformation had occurred.   On Monday my boat scraped over numerous shallow spots whereas today, thanks to heavy rains Tuesday night and Wednesday morning,  I was paddling a river rather than a creek.
Starting from Route 20 I paddled about 3 miles upriver to the Power Lines.  The beaver dams at Pelham Island Bridge and above Heard Pond were either gone or submerged.

The opening photo shows the view upriver to the area behind Wayland H.S. as it appeared today.

This is how it looked on Monday...

One obstacle was a fallen tree that spanned the river's full width above Heard Pond...

Trash of a floating nature had been freed from the shrubbery...

The larger object is a kid's snow "boogie" board broken into 3 sections.  A reminder of last winter's humongous snow amounts.
