I'll save the Brady-Montana debate for the day Brady retires. Right now I see them on par: Joe with 4 SB's vs. Brady with 3 SB's but 5 Conference Championships. Brady still has a good 3-5 years left. Assuming at least 1 more SB and that will put him on top. But let's wait and see.

Let's see, by your logic MJ & Kobe are on par since MJ with 6 rings vs Kobe with 5 rings but 7 Western Conference Championships and Kobe's got a few years left in him. Assuming 1 more ring that puts him on top. But let's wait and see.

You're also forgetting Terry Bradshaw 4 of 4 and Troy Aikman 3 of 3. Also Brady will forever be tainted by Spygate. If Brady were supreme, he would have won 5 of 5. He wins in the girlfriend/wife debate however.

If you want to simplify the debate in your mind about who's best, ignore statistics and ask yourself, "I'm putting together a team that has to win one game.  Who do I want at quarterback (or whatever position)?  Most people will get a gut feeling of who they believe would be most likely to win it for them. 

Then there are the jokers who'd answer that question by looking up whoever was quarterback for the 1990 Patriots, because they actually did manage to win one game. 

Some serious merit to what waterman says. QBs used to punished. You didn't have guys second guessing and pulling up to avoid an illegal hit which is basically anything that might potentially injure the franchise multi-million $$$ QB

I don't know how you figure out who is truly best though. Different times, different offensive lines, different defenses, different rules, different receivers, different coaches, different cheerleaders, different everything....it's not just the guy throwing the ball.

Then you have to look at the intangibles.  Like which quarterback titled his autobiography, "I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow...Because I Get Better Looking Every Day".  Or the (same) one who was on Laugh-In in the 70s, and when Rowan (or Martin) asked, "So, Broadway Joe, I understand the "Joe" but what's the "Broadway"?" he replied, "Oh, usually about a hundred and twenty-five pounds".
